Emma is the owner and maker behind Woodnote.
Nature has always been an important part of her life. She spent her childhood building forts, looking for sea glass, and exploring the forests, mountains, and the rocky beaches of Maine. Nature helps her remain present and fills her with a sense of calm that inspires her to create.
The namesake of her company is inspired by natural tunes like that of a birdsong. “Woodnote” makes her think of blue skies, sun shining through trees, bird singing, and the feeling of peace she gets while surrounded by nature.
Woodnote was founded while Emma was experimenting with fabric printing in 2020. She found a new purpose, turning her designs into functional, lovable goods. Now, printmaking has become a way for her to explore and express her love of the earth. Emma hand carves her original designs out of blocks that she uses in her printmaking process. Her prints are created using a variety of techniques with an emphasis on monoprinting!
When not running her business, you’ll find Emma cooking, exploring nature, reading, and playing board games with friends.
